Funding Opportunities
ISGC Research Initiation Grants - To Be Released Fall 2009
The goal of the Research Initiation Grant is to encourage and facilitate the development and enhancement of aerospace and space science related research in collaboration with NASA within the state of Idaho. NASA's 2006 Strategic Plan outlines six strategic goals that NASA will focus on from 2006 through 2016. These goals are integral to NASA's vision "to advance U.S. scientific, security, and economic interests through a robust space exploration program."
Proposals MUST DIRECTLY ALIGN with a minimum of one strategic goal in order to be eligible for consideration. Any submission that does not clearly align with a minimum of one strategic goal will NOT be considered for funding. Research funded through the program requires a future proposal(s) to NASA and/or other federal, state, or private aerospace-related organizations, for further funding and continued program development. Funding for a Research Initiation Grant requires a non-federal cash or in-kind match equal to the amount requested from the ISGC.
The ISGC contribution is limited to $25,000 per year for up to two years ($50,000 total). Researchers are strongly encouraged to apply for two years of funding, with second year funding contingent upon significant progress made during the first year, AND a letter of support from a researcher at a NASA Center. The grant period is from June 1, 2009 to March 14, 2010.

NASA Idaho EPSCoR Major Funding Program - Pre-Proposal Due January 4, 2010
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Education, in cooperation with NASA's four Mission Directorates-Aeronautics Research, Exploration Systems, Science, and Space Operations-and NASA's ten Centers, solicits proposals for the NASA Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). Each funded NASA EPSCoR proposal is expected to establish research activities that will make significant contributions to the strategic research and technology development priorities of one or more of the Mission Directorates and contribute to the overall research infrastructure, science and technology capabilities, higher education, and economic development of the jurisdiction.
Notice of Intent Due: December 4, 2009
Pre-Proposal Due: January 4, 2010

NASA Idaho EPSCoR Research Initiation Grants - To Be Released Spring 2010
The goal of the Research Initiation Grant program is to encourage, support, and facilitate the development and enhancement of aerospace, life, and earth and space science-related research within the state of Idaho in areas of current NASA research (e.g., as defined by the NASA Mission Directorates).Research funded through the program must result in proposals to NASA and/or other federal, state, and private organizations for further funding and continued program development. Funding for Research Initiation Grants is limited to $30,000 and requires a non-federal cash or in-kind match equal to the total amount requested from the NASA Idaho EPSCoR program.

NASA Idaho EPSCoR Collaboration (Travel) Grants - To Be Released Spring 2010
The goal of the Collaboration Grant program is to encourage, support, and facilitate the development and enhancement of cooperative relationships with NASA centers and other aeronautic agencies and organizations, and NASA researchers and engineers in order to obtain support for conducting NASA EPSCoR related research (e.g., as defined by the NASA Mission Directorates). Travel funded through the program is expected to result in research collaborations in order to develop competitive proposals to NASA and/or other federal, state, and private organizations for further funding and continued program development. Funding for a Collaboration Grant is limited to $4,000 and requires a non-federal cash or in-kind match equal to the total amount requested from the NASA Idaho EPSCoR program.

ISGC Travel Grants - No Deadline
The ISGC awards travel grants to faculty and college students to attend conferences and establish contacts with scientists or researchers at NASA field centers. They may also be awarded to college students to attend summer internships at NASA field centers. Travel grant proposals may be submitted anytime through out the year and may be awarded for up to one-half of the total cost of the travel. A 1:1 matching component may be required.
